Breaking the silence on coercive control with Sam Billingham

In this episode of Bailiwick Podcasts, Jodie Yettram sat down with Sam Billingham, a survivor of coercive control and domestic abuse.

Sam shared her personal journey, how she became trapped in an abusive relationship, the psychological toll of coercive control, and the challenges she faced when trying to leave.

Now an advocate and founder of online support group Survivors of Domestic Abuse, Sam discussed the warning signs to look out for, the gaps in understanding and professional training, and what needs to change to better protect victims.

This episode coincides with the launch of a new campaign by the Government of Jersey, aimed at raising awareness of coercive control and encouraging victims to seek support.
